best practices for healing your fresh tattoo
don’t:
Leave bandage on for more than 2 hours or re-bandage; fresh air promotes healing
Soak or submerge your tattoo in a sink, shower, bath, pool, hot tub, lake, ocean, etc. until your tattoo is fully healed (it takes 2 to 3 weeks for full healing)
Scratch or pick at your tattoo
Come in direct contact with pets or animals
DO:
Remove bandage after two hours
Hand wash in warm water with Dial liquid gold antibacterial soap and pat dry with a clean paper towel
Apply a light, thin coat of Aquaphor ointment and work into the skin (do not overuse or over apply excessive amounts of ointment. Just a light coat to ensure your tattoo stays moisturized)
Repeat above steps 3 to 4 times daily as needed for the first 5 days
On day 6, stop using Aquaphor and switch to a white, unscented lotion (we recommend Aveno)
Wear light, clean, cotton clothing on or around fresh tattoos
During the first 24 hours, your tattoo will emit plasma and ink. This is your body’s natural healing response. This may result in staining of clothing or bedding. If you experience this, wash your tattoo and reapply Aquaphor. Your artist may recommend reapplication of a plastic bandage on the first night depending on the size and placement of your tattoo.
Please use the recommended products and avoid scented soaps and lotions as they may result in adverse or allergic reactions. Ageless Arts Tattoo is not liable for adverse reactions due to the use of non-recommended products.
If your incur any illness or present signs of infection, please contact a health professional.
